About us

Coaching Foundation India Limited (CFI) was founded in May 2006 with the objective of creating a premier institution that could leverage the power of Executive Coaching to enhance the quality of business leadership in the country.

All of us in our respective roles have been deeply involved in working with and supporting Indian entrepreneurs and business leaders. Our deep conviction in the power of one-to-one coaching support to help these entrepreneurs and leaders achieve their potential is what inspired us to come together and create this institution.

Over the last five years CFI has begun to emerge as a highly respected and integrated education, accreditation, research and consulting organisation for Executive Coaching in India.

CFI offers an eight-month CEO Coach Accreditation program (CEOCAP), which helps train very senior corporate executives to become accredited coaches and pursue coaching as a full time profession. CFI has so far offered ten editions of this program, which have been attended by some very senior business leaders in the country. Their median age is over 53 years, and their median experience is over 29 years. The rigour of CFI’s CEO Coach Accreditation Program compares very favourably with the very best in the world.

CFI also offers a Leadership Development Coach Accreditation Program (LDCAP), an in-company offering, meant to create a cadre of internal coaches in an organisation to promote a coaching culture and provide coaching as a developmental experience for high potential leaders within the organisation. CFI has offered this to clients in various parts of the country and in diverse fields of business.

Today, CFI has over 100 Accredited Coaches. CFI is committed to working with them to further their coaching careers and support their professional development.

CFI has an advisory service arm which works with organisations looking for coaching support at the CXO level and helps set up and manage these coaching relationships using the highest standards of quality. CFI ensures Coaching readiness through its free seminars, offers only face to face coaching (no telephone coaching), insists on its coaches receiving 100% supervision (as a good ethical practice) and seeks feedback from the sponsor and the client, and shares it with its Coaches.

CFI is constantly consulted by organisations that are looking for well informed counsel on setting up executive coaching relationships and creating internal coaching cultures. This high touch approach coupled with a member base of highly accomplished coaches with a strong systems perspective is fast making CFI a preferred destination for organisations looking for coaching support.

CFI's Coaching Model
"CFI's promotes a holistic Coaching model that is Coachee centric by approach, humanistic by orientation, empowering by style and eclectic by design. It prepares its Coaches to be highly skilful in their Coaching conversations and deeply mindful about the psychological dimensions of Coaching. Based on insights drawn from over 200 coaching cases undertaken by its members whom CFI has had the opportunity to supervise, CFI has been able to distil very rich insights and on that basis build its proprietary models around coaching readiness, coaching needs, use of psychometric tools, the power of systems perspective, coaching competencies, Coach watch outs, referral requirements, coaching engagement processes and so on.

CFI has a partnership with the Christian Counselling Centre, Vellore, one of the oldest and most reputed Counselling institutions in the country, to instil a strong psychological foundation in our coaching practice and enhance the psychological literacy and helping skill proficiency of our Coaches. (CFI uses the Gerard Egan Skilled Helper model for this purpose). CFI is India’s first licensee of the International Association of Coaching (IAC), an independent global coach certifying body.

CFI publishes the Coaching Digest, a research based journal to promote knowledge and awareness about coaching among its users and practitioners.

CFI has member Chapters in Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai. The purpose of the Chapters is to serve as the face of CFI to our members and to the client community in its location, and to champion learning, professional development and support and through that live up to CFI’s promise of being a high touch premium coaching institution.
